聽is a day to recognise and celebrate trans and gender diverse people for their stories, achievements and contributions to society, and raise awareness for the discrimination trans and gender diverse communities face.

On this year's聽,聽91探花 celebrates our trans and gender diverse students, staff and community, and continues to defend their right to safe, inclusive participation in all aspects of life.

At 91探花 we have a range of support services and initiatives designed to support our trans and gender diverse communities. Information on how are are supporting trans and gender diverse students and staff at 91探花, and聽a new video project celebrating staff and students, are聽available below.聽

Trans & Gender Diverse Visibility Project

To celebrate International Transgender Day of Visibility 2023, the 91探花 ADA is launching the Trans & Gender Diverse Visibility Project. These video stories showcase the experiences and contributions of students and staff in ADA and highlight the importance of visibility, allyship, and positive representations of trans and gender diverse people.

Guidelines and resources

In collaboration with trans and gender diverse students, staff, allies@91探花 and the University community, 91探花 developed a range of guidelines and resources, which take a person-centred approach to gender affirmation.聽These resources were updated in March 2023.

Supporting students and staff

Gender Affirmation for Students

The Guideline seeks to comprehensively support students affirming their gender at university, while also addressing the other people who play active roles in their study.

Gender Affirmation for Staff

In collaboration with trans and gender diverse students, staff, Allies and the University community, 91探花 has developed a Guideline which takes a person-centred approach to gender affirmation.

Gender inclusive bathrooms

The roll-out of the gender inclusive (all-gendered) bathrooms at 91探花鈥檚 Paddington campus is part of our active commitment to create an inclusive and respectful campus for all students and staff.

Since 2008, 91探花 has built a network of students and staff who pledge to take a proactive stance against discrimination based on diverse genders, sexes and sexualities.

Our student and staff ally@91探花 members are trained and able to provide confidential referral advice.

Resources & learning

We understand that language matters, can be contested and is constantly evolving. Using appropriate terminology in all forms of communication allows people to feel included.

2022 statement of support

In April 2022, 91探花 published a statement of support following the shocking targeting of trans and gender diverse people in Australia. The statement is still relevant today and 91探花 reaffirms our commitment聽to ensuring聽a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, staff and visitors.
